David yarrow Photographer

Introduction

Born in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1966, David Yarrow's journey into the world of art photography began at an early age. Over the years, he has made a name for himself, not only as a celebrated artist but as a philanthropist, ambassador, and influential figure in the art world.

Early Career and Notable Achievements

As a 20-year-old, Yarrow's career took off when he found himself working as an artist-photographer for The London Times, covering the World Cup Final in Mexico City. It was on this historic day that he captured the famous image of Diego Maradona holding the World Cup, propelling him into the world of sports photography. This iconic moment led to opportunities to cover the Olympics and numerous other sporting events, marking the beginning of his remarkable journey as an artist.

Transition to Fine Art and Artwork Style

While his early career was marked by sports photography, David Yarrow later shifted his focus to documenting the natural world from unique perspectives. His art photography is characterized by its evocative and immersive style, setting him apart in the art world.

Success in the Art World

David Yarrow's distinctive art has garnered a significant following among art collectors. His large monochrome art images, particularly those created in Los Angeles, have found homes in leading galleries and museums across Europe and North America. Today, he is recognized as one of the best-selling artists in the world, with his limited edition artwork commanding high prices at prestigious auction houses like Sotheby's.

Book Publications and Philanthropy

In September 2019, Rizzoli published Yarrow's second book, a flagship release with a cover featuring his image. The book featured a foreword by global NFL star Tom Brady and an afterword by American cultural icon Cindy Crawford. Remarkably, all royalties from this book were donated to conservation charities. In 2022, another book titled "Storytelling" was published, featuring over 130 of Yarrow's images taken since 2019, with all profits from copies purchased through David Yarrow Photography Ltd donated to charities that help kids fight cancer.

Ambassadorial and Advisory Roles

David Yarrow's standing in the industry is reinforced by a range of advisory and ambassadorial roles. He serves as an ambassador for organizations like WildArk and The Kevin Richardson Foundation. As the European ambassador for Nikon, he played a pivotal role in a highly anticipated camera release. In his collaboration with charitable organizations, his impact has been substantial in the world of art.

Impact and Philanthropy

David Yarrow's art has raised over $10 million for philanthropic and conservation organizations since 2019. At Art Miami in December 2019, his photograph "The Wolves of Wall Street" achieved remarkable results, including a print signed by Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese, featuring the real Wolf of Wall Street, Jordan Belfort, which sold for $200,000, with proceeds supporting conservation NGOs. He also actively contributed to causes such as the recovery efforts in Australia after devastating bushfires and the Art for Heroes campaign during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The In Focus Journal

In the summer of 2020, David Yarrow Photography launched "In Focus," an international journal with photography and film at its core. The journal showcases collaboration and philanthropy and features articles on a range of notable figures, including Cindy Crawford, Chris Hemsworth, Nathalie Emmanuel, Gary Player, and Harry Benson, contributing to the world of art.
