Carole Feuerman: Pioneering Hyperreal Sculpture Artistry

Introducing Carole Fuerman

Carole A. Feuerman is a globally recognized artist and sculptor working in superrealism. With a career spanning four decades, Feuerman is one of the three artists credited with starting the movement in the late 1970s. Best known for her figurative works of swimmers and dancers, Feuerman is the only artist to make realistically painted outdoor sculptures and the only woman to sculpt in this style.Her pioneering work in sculpture, both monumental and life-size, sets her apart as an influential artist.


Early Career and Creative Journey

Feuerman’s journey began at the School of Visual Arts in New York, where she found work as an illustrator. She created album covers for iconic bands including The Rolling Stones and Alice Cooper, made the cover image for an issue of National Lampoon magazine, and provided illustration for the New York Times.


Major Museum Retrospectives and International Recognition

Feuerman’s astonishing career has been recognized through six major museum retrospectives, she received the Amelia Peabody Award for Sculpture, has been honored with Medici Award from the City of Florence at the the Florence Biennale, and First Prize in the 2008 Olympic Fine Arts Exhibition in Beijing. Her work has been exhibited in prestigious institutions such as the Venice Biennale, the Smithsonian Institution's National Portrait Gallery, the State Hermitage Museum, Palazzo Strazza Foundation, and the Circulo de Bellas Artes. 


She's an active member of the International Women's Forum, where leaders across diverse fields come together to make a difference, and she formed the Carole A. Feuerman Sculpture Foundation, awarding deserving artists with exhibition opportunities, internships for college credit, and education/research grants.


Publications and Sculptural Legacy

Four full-color monographs celebrate Feuerman’s work, shedding light on her artistic journey. As well as biographies that she has written herself. Feuerman’s sculptures find their place in esteemed private collections, including those of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan, President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Dr. Henry Kissinger, Former Sec. of State, Mr. & Mrs. Andrea Bocelli, Mark Parker, among others. Feuerman has imparted her knowledge and insights through lectures, workshops, and teaching at renowned institutions like the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Solomon Guggenheim Museum, Columbia University, and Grounds for Sculpture.


Recent Exhibitions

Feuerman’s work has been showcased in exhibitions across the globe, from New York's Soho to the Venice Biennale. Recently, Feuerman exhibited nine monumental works along Park Avenue in New York City for her solo exhibition Sea Idylls. In 2022, Feuerman had two major dolor exhibitions in Saint-Tropez, FR, and the Venice Boat Show, Venice, IT.
